Emergency Iraq and Syria appeal launched to help persecuted Christians
An emergency appeal has been launched to help Christians and other minorities in Iraq and Syria who are suffering in the Islamic State (IS) controlled regions. Churches are urged to raise a large sum of money for the Disaster and Relief Fund, which will be divided equally between Tearfund efforts in Syria, and the Federation for the Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East – which supports the work of Canon Andrew White, chaplain of St George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad. Please take a retiring collection before the end of August, so that a donation can be made in the first week of September. Individuals may also donate by sending a cheque to the Free Church offices or online via the Free Church website (http://www.freechurch.org/donate). Thank you.
